Penns Valley’s Emma Butler named a CDT Athlete of the Week

Penns Valley’s Emma Butler is the Centre Daily Times’ Female Athlete of the Week.

The Penns Valley girls’ basketball player helped lift her team to a historic showing this past week. Butler posted 14 points in the District 6 Class 3A semifinal win over Tyrone and then poured in a team-high 17 points against Everett in the district championship game.

That performance helped hand the Lady Rams their first district title since before Butler was born. Penns Valley had last won it in 1997 — up until Friday’s 52-50 win over Everett, which followed Tuesday’s 55-50 victory against Tyrone.

Butler’s 31 total points this past week paced her team and came when the Lady Rams needed them most.
