Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the Centre Daily Times sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com. Vote for your favorite.

Chase Ebeling, Bellefonte
Ebeling finished with a time of 17:12 to lead all in a cross country tri-team meet with Clearfield and Hollidaysburg. His teammate, Alex Mansfield, finished fifth (18:49). The Bellefonte boys team won, taking the race against Clearfield, 15-10, and beating Hollidaysburg, 21-34. Bellefonte’s boys cross country team is now 6-0 in Mountain League meets.
Michael Gaul, State College
Burdened by injuries for the majority of the season, State College had to make a number of stops to win 21-18 against Cumberland Valley. After JW Scott and the defense made the stop and Jashaun Green made a spectacular catch to set up the game-tying field goal, the game was sent to overtime at 18-18. Following a Quinn Murphy field goal to take the lead in overtime, one freshman made his name known. Gaul stepped up and picked off the quarterback to seal the game and improved his team to 4-3 on the year.
Carson Long, Philipsburg-Osceola
Long scored in a 2-2 draw against Bald Eagle on Tuesday and followed up with an explosive performance on Thursday against Tyrone. The freshman forward scored five goals and had one assist in a 9-0 victory against the Golden Eagles. Long netted his 20th goal of the season, breaking the freshman goal-scoring record.
Carson Nagle, Bald Eagle Area
Nagle and the Eagles continued to roll with a 49-0 victory against Philipsburg-Osceola on Friday night. The freshman quarterback was surgical — finishing with a 21-for-27 (77.8% completion rate) passing line for 207 yards, four touchdown passes and zero interceptions. Bald Eagle improved to 6-1 on the year and will take on Bellefonte at home this upcoming Friday. Nagle is now 104-for-169 (61.5%) on the season for 1,220 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
State College field hockey
State College beat Mifflin County 1-0 on Wednesday, moving to 8-2 on the season. It was the team’s annual Stick it to Cancer game. Madison Shomo had the game-winning goal in the third quarter with 12:28 on the clock. They followed up with a 4-0 victory on Thursday against Chambersburg to improve to 9-2 on the year and 7-1 in conference play. Ella Tambroni scored off of a pass from Sydney O’Donnell (2:11 in the first), followed by Sierra Grande with 1:30 remaining in the second. Rachel Foster scored on an assist from Phoebe Herlocher to end the half with a 3-0 lead. Herlocher finished the game off with a goal on assists by O’Donnell and Joelle Bartlett.
Nolan Weaver, Bellefonte
Weaver took Bellefonte’s offense out of the neutral position after having four consecutive games of scoreless football and last week’s performance of 14 points. The senior athlete had 21 carries for 266 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 12.7 yards per carry and his longest rush came on a 75-yard touchdown. Defensively, he had six total tackles in a 40-7 victory over Huntingdon.
Cammie Upcraft, Penns Valley
Upcraft has been a steady presence all season for her 6-6 Rams. Upcraft had 13 kills and six blocks in Penns Valley volleyball’s victory over Bellefonte on Oct. 4. Bald Eagle got the better of Penns Valley on Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep on scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-17. But the Rams rebounded on Thursday night with Upcraft and the Rams defeating Clearfield 3-0. The senior had 14 kills and four blocks.
Update: Bellefonte football’s Nolan Weaver has been added to the Athlete of the Week poll for his performance against Huntingdon.
