Poll results: State College volleyball player selected as CDT Athlete of the Week

The readers of CentreDaily.com have selected this week’s girls’ athlete of the week.

Sarah Tate won the poll for the week of Sept. 11-18 for her performance with State College volleyball.

Tate helped the Little Lions to a 3-1 victory over Spring-Ford. She finished the match with a season high 21 kills in the victory.

She took 56% of the poll, with 4,098 votes.

Here were the other nominees:

Naomi Crispin, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy girls’ soccer: Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy girls’ soccer enjoyed an 8-0 victory over Southern Huntingdon on Sept. 12 on the back of a big game from Naomi Crispin. Crispin, who is a team captain as a sophomore, finished with three goals in the win.

Ella Hadley and Maddie Butler, Penns Valley volleyball: Penns Valley volleyball had two players reach milestones during the week. Ella Hadley tallied her 500th dig of her career, while Maddie Butler earned her 1,000th dig of her career. They’ve helped the team to a 5-2 record on the back of a five match winning streak.

Hadley and Butler finished second in this week’s poll with 1,848 votes and 25% of the total count.

Chloe Matson, Philipsburg-Osceola girls’ soccer: Philipsburg-Osceola played three girls’ soccer matches during the week and Chloe Matson netted at least one goal in all three. She finished the week with six total goals, including four in the team’s victory over Moshannon Valley to close out the week.

For the CDT’s Athlete of the Week polls this season, we will take nominations from all six county athletic departments for both a boys’ and girls’ athlete of the week. Voting for this poll ended Sunday. As a reminder, the poll is not scientific and just for fun. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. Look for future polls at CentreDaily.com.
