Poll results: Penns Valley soccer player selected as the CDT’s girls’ athlete of the week

In a poll that garnered more than 29,700 votes at CentreDaily.com, a Penns Valley soccer player was selected the girls’ athlete of the week for Oct. 2-8.

Penns Valley’s Audrey Kerstetter had 19,177 of those votes, or 64% of the poll. Penns Valley soccer defeated Huntingdon 2-1 on a game-winning goal by Kerstetter. Kerstetter — a junior captain — netted the goal for the Rams on a direct kick.

Here’s a look at the other nominees:

Natalie Ausherman, State College soccer: State College soccer earned a victory over Cedar Cliff in a Mid Penn Conference matchup, with Natalie Ausherman recording an assists on both of the team’s goals in its 2-1 victory.

Anna Tyson, Bellefonte cross-country: Bellefonte cross-country stayed undefeated in Section 3 of the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference thanks to Anna Tyson’s effort in earning a photo finish in her race.

Lauren Dugan, Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball: Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball earned wins over Clearfield, Central and Somerset thanks in part to the efforts of Lauren Dugan. Dugan recorded 13 service points and two aces against Clearfield, 18 service points and three aces against Central and 13 service points and seven digs against Somerset.

She came in second in the poll, with 6,001 votes.

For the CDT’s Athlete of the Week polls this season, we will take nominations from all six county athletic departments for both a boys’ and girls’ athlete of the week. Voting for this poll ended Sunday. As a reminder, the poll is not scientific and just for fun. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. Look for future polls at CentreDaily.com.
