Results: Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball player named Centre Daily Times athlete of the week
In the final regular poll of the fall sports season, a Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball player was selected by readers of CentreDaily.com as athlete of the week for Nov. 6-12.
Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball’s Maddy Lumadue helped the Mountaineers to two state playoff victories during that week. She recorded 32 assists, 13 service points and 2 aces across the two matches. On Saturday, the Lady Mounties brought home a PIAA Class 2A state title.
Lumadue had 4,334 votes in the poll, or 81%.
Here were the other nominees for athlete of the week:
Ty Salazer, State College football: State High defeated Altoona in the District 6 Championship game with the help of junior Ty Salazer. Salazer set both the single season and career receiving yards records, while also recording a game sealing interception late in the win.
Megan Maher, State College girls’ soccer: State College girls’ soccer’s Megan Maher was dominant in net for the Little Lions this season. She finished with 377 saves during the season, which ranks first in Pennsylvania and second nationally.
She took second place in the poll, with 1,019 votes, or 19%.
