Athlete of the Week: Ali Frantti

Penn State University volleyball player Ali Frantti is a Centre Daily Times Athlete of the Week.

Frantti, a freshman outside hitter, played a part in a pair of Nittany Lion victories.

On Wednesday, she had eight kills in a 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 sweep at Northwestern.

On Saturday, she belted 17 kills and had five digs as she helped the Nittany Lions avenge an earlier season loss with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-16 romp against Nebraska.

For the season, Frantti leads the team with 346 kills.

The defending national champions (30-3) are the fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament and open the event at home Friday against Siena.
