State College’s Veronika Karpenko is a Centre Daily Times Athlete of the Week.

Karpenko earned a pair of individual silver medals and helped the Lady Little Lions finish second as a team at the PIAA Track and Field Championships during the weekend.

Karpenko recorded a leap of 39 feet, 2 inches to finish second in the triple jump Friday. She followed that up with a second-place finish in the long jump (18-8 1/4) Saturday.

State College finished with 32 points to place second as a team behind champion Cheltenham (48).
