State College American Legion baseball team reaches finals

State College beat Beech Creek 6-3 on Sunday afternoon and will host the Central Penn League Championship series.

The team will face off against the winner of Dubois/Clearfield and Beech Creek at 6 p.m. Tuesday. If State College falls on Tuesday, it will have to play again on Wednesday. The winner advances to the Senion Legion Baseball Regionals.

State College’s bats came alive after a 3-3 stalemate through five innings. Tyler Hall led off with a walk and advanced to third on an error. Zach Ripka, Evan Smith and Tucker Treibold each had an RBI single to pad the score and a pitching error plated another.

Oliver Daly earned the win for State College.
