State College Spikes set 2017 schedule

The State Colleges Spikes have their home opener set for June 19 next season.

The defending New York-Penn League champions announced their 2017 season schedule Monday, with the season starting at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The teams will tangle again June 20 at Williamsport, and will battle 13 times through the season, also ending the regular season Sept. 6-7 in State College.

The season also will be highlighted by a three-game visit from the Hudson Valley Renegades on Aug. 8-10 in a rematch of the NYPL championship series.

The schedule also will see seven Sunday evening home games, but only four Saturday contests. The Spikes will play 14 of their first 20 games at home, and host three afternoon contests, with the Auburn Doubledays (July 8, Aug. 1 and Sept. 4) the opponent for noon starts.
