Josh Lopez is the Centre Daily Times’ Spike of the Week.

Lopez, State College’s starting catcher, has been virtually unstoppable at the plate. He played in four games this past week, and he had multiple hits in each and every one.

The Spikes’ season kicked off last Monday. So far, Lopez is 11 of 19 with two home runs, six runs and seven RBIs. He’s gone the distance in back-to-back games, most recently smacking a three-run homer on Sunday with two outs.

He leads the Spikes in nearly every conceivable offensive category — including batting average (.579), slugging percentage (.947), total bases (18), hits, runs and homers. He has committed one error.

The 21-year-old infielder hails from Valencia, Venezuela, and hit .305 last season with the Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie League).
