Centre County’s first Rutter’s to open Wednesday in Bellefonte

Centre County’s first Rutter’s is set to open for business Wednesday.

Located on Benner Pike, the York-based convenience store and gas station sits at the intersection of Rishel Hill Road in Benner Township, near the Centre County Correctional Facility. According to a spokesperson, the business will open at 6 a.m. Wednesday, offering 24-hour service.

The 10,000-square-foot business houses a sit-down dining area, 14 gas pumps, five tractor-trailer diesel fueling stations and a weigh station. After development plans were submitted in 2018, construction on the site began in September 2019. Customers can purchase sandwiches, burgers, pizza, salads, soups and other snacks at the convenience store.

Founded in 1968 as Rutter’s Farm Stores, the chain simplified its name in 2018. With 76 locations between West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, the Bellefonte location is the first in the Centre Region and will be the chain’s 77th installment.. Other central Pennsylvania locations include Milroy, Mifflintown and Altoona.
