Food chains Auntie Anne’s, Carvel and Cinnabon set to open in downtown State College
Centre County’s only Carvel and Cinnabon, along with its third Auntie Anne’s, are scheduled to open Friday in a single downtown State College location.
The ice cream, cinnamon roll and soft pretzel chains are set to operate daily at 324 E. College Ave. Hours for the store are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
About 35 people are employed at the 10-seat location, Auntie Anne’s communications manager Kaitlin Plekkenpol wrote in an email Thursday.
The eateries fully redesigned the space that used to be home to Kiwi Yogurt, which closed in July after nearly 10 years in business.
The store has a study area with free Wi-Fi and televisions, along with self-ordering kiosks and a designated pick-up area for online orders. Breakfast items and coffee will be served all day, Plekkenpol wrote.
Auntie Anne’s has long been associated with shopping malls, but Marketing Vice President Marcel Nahm in December said the company has been looking for ways to strengthen its position in college towns.
A grand opening with a ribbon-cutting, offers and giveaways is scheduled for Feb. 27.
