Food Network picks Centre County eatery as ‘most charming small-town restaurant’ in PA

Centre County diners hunting for a hidden gem in Pennsylvania don’t have to look far, as Food Network selected a Bellefonte restaurant for its top pick in the state.

The Governor’s Pub, located at 211 W. High St. in Bellefonte, was chosen by network food writer Ni’Kesia Pannell as the “most charming small-town restaurant” in the state.

“The Governor’s Pub & Restaurant has long been a favorite among locals and visitors of Bellafonte [sic], Pennsylvania,” Pannell writes for Food Network in the Jan. 31 article. “While the restaurant boasts a number of tasty items to choose from (portobello fries, anyone?), customers rave most about the fish and chips.”

On its website, the pub advertises its fare and vibe as “eclectic comfort food, generous drinks, friendly, small town atmosphere.”

Appetizer options include crab pretzels and Canadian-inspired poutine fries, while the entrees menu features a variety of burgers, salads, sandwiches and heartier fare, like shepherd’s pie. Prices generally range from $11 to $20 per dish. Vegetarian options and substitutions are available, along with a children’s menu.
