Looking for a job? These companies are hiring in Centre County during the coronavirus pandemic
Pennsylvanians filed nearly 379,000 unemployment claims during the week of March 15, the most in the nation and about double the nearest state.
The state Department of Labor and Industry received nearly 406,000 claims the following week, and has received about 939,000 from March 15-31.
Though unemployment claims are surging, some businesses in Centre County are still hiring.
The list below outlines some businesses that are hiring during the COVID-19 pandemic. To add or change something on this list, email cdtnewstips@centredaily.com. This list will be updated at centredaily.com throughout the shutdown period.
Here’s who’s hiring:
- Snow Shoe Refractories is looking to hire 5-10 people. The starting wage in $12.50 an hour. Call 814-387-6811 ext. 213 if interested.
- Weis has several openings at all five of its Centre County locations, including part-time sales associate, cashier, custom cake designer and assistant meat manager.
- Giant is looking for a part-time produce associate and deli associate. Each position is listed as paying at least $10 per hour.
- Rite Aid has eight openings positions, including four in State College, three in Bellefonte and one in Philipsburg.
- CVS has 16 job openings in either State College or Bellefonte.
- Wegmans has four open positions, including pharmacy technician, parking lot attendant, cashier and a customer service representative.
- Family Care Home Health is hiring personal care aides. Starting pay is $12 per hour.
- First National Bank lists several open jobs, including teller, sales assistant and branch manager.
- Northwest Bank is has a full-time teller team leader position open at its Centre Hall location and a full-time financial advisor position open at its State College location.
- M&T has three available positions, including service associate, mortgage originator and residential mortgage sales manager.
- AccuWeather has 17 open positions at its State College office.
- Spectrum Brands is looking to hire a seasonal merchandiser associate.
- TravelCenters of America has 16 job openings at its Boggs Township location.
- AristaCare At Hearthside has several open nursing and administrative positions.
- Advance Auto Parts has eight positions available in the Centre Region, including salesperson, driver and general manager.
- Dollar Tree and Family Dollar each have open positions in State College and Philipsburg.
- Geisinger has more than 10 open positions in State College.
- Petco has five full-time openings, including guest experience specialist, hospital veterinarian and aquatics specialist.
- Big Lots is looking to hire a part-time store associate and a temporary part-time store associate.
- Home Depot has 10 open jobs at its Patton Township location.
- Lowe’s has seven open positions.
- Pennsylvania CareerLink lists more than 1,000 jobs in Centre County. A full list can be found here.
