Remains found in Clearfield County identified as missing Philipsburg man

Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder confirmed that human remains found in October in Clearfield County have been identified as a Philipsburg man who was reported missing in July.

Vincent Marcinko, 35, was last seen leaving on foot from a residence in the Shiloh area of Bradford Township on June 27, according to state police in Clearfield. He had been dropped off at that residence three days earlier.

On Oct. 25, a hunter found human remains in a wooded area off Graham Road in Shiloh, Bradford Township, said Shaffer-Snyder.

The cause of death is “undetermined” due to the condition of the remains, she said, but state police in Clearfield are still investigating. The coroner’s office, PSP Clearfield and Mercyhurst University worked together to identify the remains through dental records, she said.

Marcinko’s family has already been notified and held a funeral service for him. His obituary ran Dec. 8, 2019 in The Clearfield Progress.
