AAUW Book Sale, Easter Bunny visits and more: These events are canceled or postponed

With all non-life-sustaining businesses closed in Pennsylvania and residents urged to stay indoors to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, groups and organizations have canceled or rescheduled planned events.
Here are the latest updates:
Canceled events
- All events hosted by Mount Nittany Health, including events held at a Mount Nittany Health facility, are canceled through April 30.
- Happy Valley’s Got Talent, an annual fundraiser for the Tides Program that had been scheduled for April 25, is canceled.
- Webster’s Bookstore Cafe in State College has canceled all concerts and events.
- State park and forest offices and visitor centers, restrooms, campgrounds, cabins, and all forms of overnight accommodations including the Nature Inn are closed as of March 17. Public programs, events and trainings in state parks are also canceled. Visitors can still access trails, lakes, roads and parking for activities such as hiking.
- Winter Jam 2020 canceled the rest of its tour, which included a stop March 28 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
- The State Theatre in downtown State College announced changes to its schedule, including canceled and rescheduled events. The theater will close its offices to the public until April 1. Visit thestatetheatre.org for more information.
- The Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County canceled several upcoming events, including an April 1 Business After Hours events and an April 2 luncheon with state Sen. Jake Corman.
- The Ron and Mary Maxwell Community Spelling Bee scheduled for April 8 at Foxdale Village has been postponed until further notice.
- Fuse Productions canceled all performances of the musical “Ruthless,” which were scheduled March 27-28 in Altoona and April 2-4 in State College.
- The Penn State Small Business Development Center suspended all March workshops and in-person consulting appointments through April 3.
- Centre County Historical Society rescheduled Rebecca Inlow’s April 5 presentation on “The Rowland Story” at the Centre Furnace Mansion; and canceled tours at Centre Furnace Mansion until further notice.
- The Makery in State College postponed all children’s classes and suspended open studio and market hours until March 23.
Penn State’s Center for the Performing Arts has canceled all performances and events through April. The ticket center locations at Eisenhower Auditorium and Penn State Downtown Theatre Center are closed for in-person sales.
The 4th Sunday Howard Jam at the J.K. Yearick Center is canceled for April 24.
- The Easter Bunny hours and event will be canceled at the Nittany Mall this year.
The OLV Preschool 5K Run/Walk has been canceled.
The Up and Up Festival has been canceled.
All State College First Friday events through May 10 are canceled.
Out of the Darkness walk is canceled.
The April 6 State College Borough Council meeting has been canceled.
PSEA’s March 27-28 Special Education Conference in State College has been canceled.
The Nittany Knights Barbershop Chorus has canceled its annual show, originally scheduled for May 9 at The State Theatre
Leadership Centre County staff members are working remotely until further notice. The remaining Class of 2020 Program Days and the Graduation Celebration have been canceled and will be offered to class members in 2021. Transformational Leader Series workshops will be rescheduled. The semi-annual Foxdale Village Garage Sale that was to be held on May 2 has been postponed. Information about a new date will be announced sometime in the future.
Event changes
- Out of the Cold: Centre County’s 3rd annual fundraiser dinner scheduled for March 16 has been postponed to May 19.
- The State College Downtown Rotary Club’s Spaghetti Dinner, scheduled for March 25, is now drive-thru only. The event runs 4-7 p.m. at Mount Nittany United Methodist Church.
- The State College Community Land Trust’s Rootenanny fundraiser, scheduled for April 2, has been postponed until the fall.
Centre County PAWS rescheduled bingo from March 20 to April 24.
The AAUW Used Book Sale has been postponed.
Church closures
- Grace Lutheran Church in State College will be closed through at least the end of March.
The Nittany Valley Charge United Church of Christ will not have Sunday morning worship services on March 29. This involves Emmanuel UCC, Jacksonville, Mt Bethel UCC, Lamar and Salona UCC, Salona.
Deadline extension
The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, in partnership with Centre County commissioners, announced it is extending the deadline to apply for a 2020-21 Tourism Grant from March 31 to 5 p.m. April 30 to allow more time for HVAB members to deal with issues arising from coronavirus preparedness and response.
