What opened this month in Centre County and other business changes you may have missed
The first month of 2022 saw a number of announcements from Centre County businesses, including those about new locations, mergers and more.
Here’s a look at some of the business news you may have missed.
New places to check out
- A second location of The Makery has opened in Centre County — The Makery at the Museum, which is located in the Bellefonte Art Museum and open Friday-Sunday.
- Elixr Coffee Roasters opened this month in the former Saint’s Cafe location on West Beaver Avenue in downtown State College. Saint’s closed its doors on Dec. 19 after more than two decades in business.
The Animal Kingdom, 103 S. Allen St., State College, will merge with Growing Tree Toys, which is two blocks away in downtown State College. Both businesses are owned by Lindsay Williamson.
- Lupita’s will open its third location in Centre County, with a restaurant planned to open at 312 W. Beaver Ave., State College, in March. The Mexican restaurant also has locations in Milesburg and inside the Uni-Mart in Ferguson Township.
Longtime eatery set to close
The owner of the Red Horse Tavern in Pleasant Gap announced on Facebook that the restaurant will close in April.
Acquisition
Buchart Horn Inc., an architecture and engineering firm based in York, announced the acquisition of Uni-Tec Consulting Engineers Inc., of State College. The Uni-Tec staff will join the Buchart Horn team and begin working from that firm’s State College office at 2009 N. Atherton St.
