Last-minute Easter shopping? Hop to it before these State College stores close
Now that spring is in full swing, Easter Sunday is approaching quickly. Whether you’re stocking up on ham and potatoes or running to the store for bunny-shaped chocolates and plastic eggs for your backyard hunt, we’ve got your last-minute shopping covered.
Easter Sunday falls on April 20 this year. Most stores in the State College area will operate with reduced hours or close entirely to mark the holiday.
Here’s a brief look at the holiday hours for grocery markets and liquor stores throughout Centre County. Be sure to check specific locations for their individual schedules and services.
Aldi
All Aldi stores, including its locations at 780 Benner Pike and 1798 N. Atherton St. in State College, are closed on Easter Sunday, according to the company’s website.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits
All Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores are closed on Easter Sunday, according to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The four stores in the State College area — 127 Southridge Plaza, 230 W. Hamilton Ave., 1682 N. Atherton St. and 323 Benner Pike — will open with regular hours on Monday.
Giant
Giant stores will close at 3 p.m. on Easter Sunday, while pharmacies will close for the entire day. The company operates three stores in Centre County: 255 Northland Center and 2121 S. Atherton St. in State College, plus 2699 Benner Pike in Bellefonte.
Sam’s Club
This membership-only store, located at 381 Benner Pike in State College, is closed on Easter Sunday before resuming regular hours Monday.
Target
Target is again closing all its stores on Easter Sunday this year. That includes its locations at 315 Colonnade Blvd. and 201 W. Beaver Ave. in State College, which will respectively resume regular hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting Monday.
Trader Joe’s
Regular hours are in store for State College’s Trader Joe’s on Easter Sunday. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at 243 Patriot Lane.
Walmart
Normal hours are on tap for Walmart stores across the country. Centre County’s locations, 1665 N. Atherton St. and 373 Benner Pike in State College, are both open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Wegmans
The only Wegmans in Centre County is rolling with regular hours (6 a.m. to midnight) on Easter Sunday. Its pharmacy will close for the holiday but reopen from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
Weis
The five Weis stores found in Centre County are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Easter Sunday. The company operates stores in Bellefonte (170 Buckaroo Lane), Philipsburg (501 N. Centre St.) and State College (1471 Martin St., 110 Rolling Ridge Drive and 560 Westerly Parkway).
