Charlotte, Liam top most popular baby names at Mount Nittany Medical. What else made the list?
Parents who welcomed their bundle of joy into the world this year at Mount Nittany Medical Center chose Charlotte more than any other name.
Emma was the second most popular name for girls born at the hospital. Olivia was third; Ellie and Ivy were tied for fourth; Chloe, Grace and Harper were tied for fifth.
Liam took the top spot among boys. It was followed by Owen, Lincoln, Oliver and Colton.
There were 1,241 children born at the hospital as of Dec. 22. The hospital averaged about 1,274 births annually since 2018.
Liam has been a mainstay among the most popular boy names nationally for the better part of a decade. It was the top boy name between 2017 and 2020, and has been in the top 10 every year since 2012.
Oliver ranked third nationally in 2019 and 2020. Owen, Lincoln and Colton didn’t crack the top 20, according to the Social Security Administration.
Several of the top girl names at Mount Nittany have long been popular nationally.
Emma and Olivia were in the top five every year since 2002. Charlotte increased in popularity every year since 1999, ending up as the fourth most popular name in 2020.
Harper gained in popularity more quickly than any other of the top names at Mount Nittany. It didn’t appear in the top 1,000 names until 2004, but was in the top 25 since 2012.
