I-80 westbound in Centre County back open after hourslong closure due to crash
For the second time in a week, a section of Interstate 80 in Centre County was closed for hours Friday night following a crash.
I-80 westbound closed between the Milesburg and Snow Shoe exits at about 5:45 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation. The road reopened at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday.
During the closure, traffic was diverted off the interstate at the Milesburg exit onto Route 150.
The Snow Shoe Fire Company posted on Facebook that a tractor-trailer hauling a flammable hazmat load rolled over. There were no injuries, according to dispatch reports.
Emergency crews were called to I-80 westbound in Boggs Township at about 5:40 p.m. for a report of a tractor-trailer on its side. Citizen’s Hook & Ladder Company in Milesburg, Bellefonte Fire Police and Howard, Snow Shoe and Logan fire companies were among those called to the scene.
A portion of the highway in the same area was closed for about 10 hours Tuesday after one tractor-trailer went over the guardrail and another one jackknifed during the first snowfall of the season.
