Former Penn State football coach lists State College-area home for $2.49M
James Franklin is finally parting ways with his Happy Valley home, having listed it last week for $2.49 million.
The home, located at 157 Manhasset Court in Port Matilda, is six-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom and covers 7,692 square feet. Franklin and his wife, Fumi, bought the Waddle-area home in 2014 for $1.48 million, about $2.03 million in today’s money, after the former took over Penn State’s football program.
It is among the highest-value homes in the Cedar Cliff neighborhood.
The interior is mostly white, according to listing photos, with modern lighting and large windows providing copious light. Accoutrements include a two-car garage, with room for two more in a detached garage; a basketball court; an outdoor kitchen and a home gym.
The house is set back from the road and, in part, surrounded by forest. Several Franklin touches appear in the listing photos, such as football-themed media and game rooms.
The listing agent, Eric Hurvitz, declined to discuss the home with the Centre Daily Times.
Over the past 30 years, the number of non-commercial, single-family homes sold in Centre County for more $2 million is in the single digits, according to county property records. The last time a $2-plus million home was listed in Centre County was October 2025, also by Hurvitz, and it has yet to change hands.
The listing of the home comes four and a half months after Penn State axed Franklin during a rocky 2025 season. He now serves as head coach at Virginia Tech.
