Bellefonte’s newest decor store has ‘a little something for everyone.’ Take a look

A new home decor store recently held its grand opening in downtown Bellefonte, and the owner is hoping it has “a little something for everyone.”

Every Season Home and Living, located at 107 S. Allegheny St. on the ground floor of the Brockerhoff Building, the former location of Art a la Carte, opened its doors April 5 and offers a selection of goods inspired by people in the owner’s personal life.

“I’m a wife and mother of four, and the idea behind Every Season Home and Living kind of stemmed from that,” owner and Centre County native Taylor Eger said. “I also love to create, so I created a space that families and others can come to — especially moms — to get inspired for their homes and wardrobes. I’d like to think that we have a little something for everyone here.”

In the past, Eger said she had to drive lengthy distances to find stores like hers. Now that Every Season Home and Living is open, though, she’s hoping that other mothers won’t have to drive nearly as far.

Some of the goods offered in the store include bunny-themed bookends, candles and candle holders, decorative vases, mirrors, lamps, kitchenware and other home decorations.

The store also offers a small selection of clothes ranging from sizes small to 3XL, as Eger believes that “all body sizes deserve cute clothes.”

Staying true to the store’s name, its offered goods are themed in accordance with whatever the current season is. In the fall, the items sold at the store will likely be Halloween- or foliage-themed and, in winter, Christmas items will be for sale.

Since moving to Bellefonte, Eger said those in the community have been supportive of her new business, with many fellow store owners dropping by to say hello.

“So far everyone has been incredibly supportive — people who have stopped in have all wished us luck,” Eger said. “We chose to come to Bellefonte because it’s such a charming town, and there’s such an incredible sense of community here — which we’ve already seen a lot of so far.”

Despite being cozily situated now, the moving-in process was far from a smooth proceeding, as there were a few hurdles that needed to be jumped through before opening.

Shortly after taking over the lease to the space, Eger discovered that the Brockerhoff Building as a whole was built on a slight slant. That made it difficult to install the wood flooring she originally wanted, so she eventually pivoted to an epoxy resin finish instead.

The space needed a paint job too, a task that Eger’s sister, Britney Croyle, said was a major family affair. “Taylor hates painting, so it was primarily me and her kids that did the majority of that work, although it definitely wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be,” Croyle said.

Eger’s four kids do a lot more than just help her paint, though — they’re some of her biggest motivators, and she hopes that as they grow up, the store will help serve as an inspiration to them.

“I’m a believer that anyone who sets their mind toward something can absolutely achieve it with enough hard work, and that’s exactly the example that I’m trying to set for my kids here,” Eger said. “I hope that they can look at this store and use it as an example that hard work does pay off, and that their dreams don’t have to be just dreams.”
