Coroner releases additional details after 2 found dead following Spring Township fire
The Centre County Coroner has released additional details after two people were found dead after a Saturday morning fire in a Spring Township home.
Fire companies responded to a two-alarm blaze in the 100 block of Mulbarger Lane around 9:15 a.m. Saturday. Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers was dispatched to the scene shortly after noon, where an adult man and adult woman were pronounced dead, Sayers wrote in a press release.
Both died of smoke inhalation, Sayers said in a Monday press release. Their deaths were ruled accidental.
Their ages and identities have not been publicly released. Identities are being withheld pending positive identification through DNA analysis, which is expected to take several weeks, Sayers wrote.
After firefighters responded to the scene on Saturday morning, officials learned that the homeowners were home and inside the building, Spring Township police wrote in a previous press release. Once the fire was under control, a search of the home began and the two were found.
An investigation is underway involving the State Police Fire Marshal and coroner’s office.
