After teaching students for decades, two Bellefonte elementary schools are preparing to close their doors.

The Bellefonte Area School District board of directors voted last year to close the Bellefonte and Benner elementary schools at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year. The closures arrive as the school district prepares to open the new 98,000-square-foot Bellefonte Elementary School along Airport Road behind Bellefonte’s high school.
