Police release more details as search continues for driver who struck and killed Penns Valley man

State police at Rockview narrowed their search for the vehicle that struck and killed a Spring Mills man Friday night and are still asking for the public’s help to find the driver.

A 2012-15 white or silver Honda Pilot with a missing fog light cover and damage to the front passenger side struck John David King about 8:35 p.m. Friday in the area of Penns Valley Road and Paradise Road, police said.

King, a 23-year-old who was operating a non-motorized scooter, died of blunt force trauma, Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Pleskonko said Saturday. His death was ruled accidental.

The vehicle continued traveling westbound along state Route 45 after the crash, police said.

Those with surveillance footage or knowledge of the crash should contact police at 355-7545.

King was born and raised in Spring Mills, and worked as a roofer, according to obituary. He is survived by his parents, Lloyd and Naomi King, and his eight siblings.

The family hosted services for King on Monday, including a procession of more than 40 buggies to the Penns Valley Amish Cemetery.
