Grange Fair-goers can do the ‘Watermelon Crawl’ with the latest grandstand entertainer announced
Country music fans are in for a treat with this week’s Centre County Grange Fair grandstand entertainment announcement.
Tracy Byrd, American country music artist, will perform at the fair Aug. 25, fair organizers announced on its Facebook Friday. Byrd broke through on the country music scene with his 1993 single “Holdin’ Heaven.” Byrd has charted more than 30 hit singles in his career and is known for hits such as “Watermelon Crawl,” “Ten Rounds with José Cuervo,” “The Keeper of the Stars” and “I’m From the Country.”
Byrd is the sixth entertainer to be announced.
Grandstand shows are free; admission to the fair is required. In the past, performers including Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry, Gabby Barrett, Tracy Lawrence and Morgan Wallen took the stage. In past weeks, fair organizers announced Diamond Rio, an American country band, Jacob Tolliver, a country rock “self-taught piano prodigy,” Bruce Springsteen tribute band Bruce in the USA, and country singer Mark Wills, and “The Voice” season six runner up Jake Worthington will also perform at the grandstand during the fair. Entertainment announcements have been made every Friday at 10 a.m. on the fair’s Facebook page.
The 2022 Grange Fair is set for Aug. 19-27. Going to the fair is a longstanding tradition for many families and acts as a home-away-from-home for a lot of the 1,000 families who stay in tents and 1,500 RVs at the fairgrounds. It is the only remaining tenting fair in the nation, according to its website.
