The Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair is back, Aug. 16-24, and celebrates a major milestone in 2024. Read all of our coverage from the 150th anniversary of the iconic event.

Kids from across Centre County having been showing their animals since last week at the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, after preparing all year through 4-H and FFA.

From cows to pigs to goats, the animals play a large role in the fair — which marks its 150th anniversary this year — as they are shown to judges and interested buyers.

Below is a look in the barns during Wednesday afternoon:

Madison Bowen of Centre Hall won Supreme Champion female during Wednesday’s open beef show with 2,000 pound Lola, who she has been raising since September 2022.

Youth make sure the animals are clean and fluffed to be shown, some using a spray or even olive oil to smooth the fur.

Throughout the fair, there are competitions for beef, goats, poultry, rabbits, sheep and swine.

The junior livestock sale will be on Friday beginning at 9:30 am. The sale helps youth raise animals for the following year.
