Deaths of State College couple still under investigation, coroner’s office says

Carbon monoxide poisoning was ruled out as the cause of death for a State College couple who died Wednesday, the Centre County coroner’s office announced Friday.

Hal and Natalie Hallock were found dead in their iconic home at 211 W. Prospect Ave. after family members were unable to contact them, borough police said.

There were no gunshot wounds, signs of trauma, violence or foul play, officers said Wednesday. Their deaths remain under investigation and toxicology results for both are pending, Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Pleskonko said in a news release.

Hal, 75, graduated from State College Area High School and Penn State before heading to Arizona State to earn a master’s degree. He married Natalie, 71, after returning to Happy Valley, where he served as a beloved substitute teacher at all five school districts in Centre County.

They were involved in several community organizations and events, like the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, State College Community Theatre and Lemont’s Haunted Granary.
