Avoid the area: See what roads will be closed for State College’s homecoming parade
Several roads will be closed Thursday evening for State College Area’s new homecoming parade route. The parade will start at 6 p.m. at State High before heading through the Holmes-Foster neighborhood and ending back at the high school, followed by a pep rally on the South Track Complex.
In previous years, the parade has started at the high school before traveling down Westerly Parkway, across Atherton and up Allen Street. The district, along with State College Borough and State College Police Department, made the switch due to safety concerns and other issues.
Sections of Westerly Parkway, Saxton Drive, West Fairmount and South Sparks Street will be closed for the parade.
The parade’s new route is as follows:

Due to the parade, no late buses will be running from the high school on Thursday. On Friday, , State College will host its homecoming football game against Central Dauphin East at 7 p.m. at Memorial Field.
