Kitten darts across highway and gets stuck in unlikely spot, Maryland cops say
A driver headed down a Maryland highway picked up an unusual stowaway.
A kitten dashed across Route 29 and somehow ended up stuck in the car’s engine, according to a Friday, June 2, Facebook post from the Howard County Police Department.
The driver pulled to the side of the highway and called police about the furry passenger, the post said.
In the video posted by the department, body camera footage shows PFC Chang Lee approaching the parked car, while Sgt. Aaron Miller points under the car’s hood.
“See right there?” Miller says.
Lee takes a closer look.
“Oh yeah. Hey, kitty,” Lee says while making clicking sounds.
“Hey, I see you,” one officer says as the kitten meows.
Lee soon lays on the ground while trying to coax the kitten out from underneath the car.
Suddenly, Lee shouts, “I got him,” while pulling the gray kitten out from hiding.
“I’ve never been on a call like this. What in the world?” Lee says as he makes his way back to the patrol car with the kitten in hand.
Police said they took the kitten, who was not hurt, to the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.
Howard County is about 25 miles west of Baltimore.
