A dog with a sunny disposition and a zest for life is in need of a loving, forever home at one Texas animal shelter.

While Colby Jack, an enthusiastic 6-year-old Dachshund mix, has the “cutest smile” that will melt even the coldest heart, his back story is a little on the disappointing side.

“He was originally with us in 2018 and is now back after his previous adopters had a change in lifestyle. Colby Jack is a handsome and happy little guy who enjoys eating tasty treats,” the San Antonio Humane Society said in an Oct. 29 Facebook post.

Weighing about 37 pounds, according to his pet profile, Colby Jack has been with the shelter a short time since being returned, but he loves meeting new friends and is considered a “loyal companion,” the shelter said.

Photos of the pup show a medium-sized dog who has a playful disposition and adores attention from humans.

The shelter is unaware of how he acts with other dogs and children, his profile said.

McClatchy News has reached out to the San Antonio Humane Society to find out more about Colby but has not received an immediate response.
