A gambler traveled from California to a Las Vegas casino and won a life-changing prize at a slot machine.

The lucky player hit a $544,702 jackpot Nov. 16 at the Fremont Hotel & Casino, according to a Nov. 19 news release from Boyd Gaming Corporation.

The visitor sat at a “Wheel of Fortune” slot machine, bet $1.25 and hit spin, the company said.

Symbols flashed across the screen until a jackpot message appeared.

“The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, witnessed their dreams coming true,” the company said in the release.

Fremont Hotel & Casino is in downtown Las Vegas. It’s part of the Fremont Street Experience.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
