A lottery player “made history” on Christmas Eve when they won the largest jackpot in a game’s history, Wisconsin lottery officials said.

They bought a $10 “50 Times The Money” ticket at a Sheboygan liquor store and won 100% of the $583,746 Fast Play Progressive Jackpot — the largest since the game’s debut in April 2023, officials said in a news release.

The prize eclipsed the previous Fast Play jackpot of $403,497 from July 2023, officials said.

The Wisconsin lottery offers eight Fast Play games, which are different from other lottery games because the progressive jackpot can be won as soon as the ticket is purchased, officials said.

The amount depends on the ticket price the player buys, with $1 winning 10% of the progressive jackpot, $2 winning 20%, $5 tickets winning 50% and $10 tickets winning 100%, officials said.

Sheboygan is about a 60-mile drive north from Milwaukee.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
