A kneading biscuit-loving cat sported a flaw that a lot of felines suffer from — fear. And unfortunately, her timid personality landed her in an Indiana shelter where she’s seeking a safe space.

All Jazzy needs in her life is love and patience, the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers said in a Feb. 24 Facebook post about the young cat.

“Jazzy has spent her whole life feeling afraid. Loud noises, fast movements, and too much chaos made her retreat into the shadows,” the shelter said. “She tried to express her fear the only way she knew how, but it wasn’t enough—so in October 2024, her owners surrendered her to our shelter.”

According to her pet profile, the family she had been with her entire life relocated to a new residence. All the chaos that comes with moving finally got to Jazzy, and her bathroom habits began to suffer.

“Last February, we moved to a new house, which was terrifying for me. The two young children and the two dogs in the home were always a source of fear, and whenever they came near me, I would run and hide. I knew the family meant well when they bought two self-cleaning, robotic litterboxes in addition to the traditional one, but I was petrified by their noise and movement,” her profile said.

“When a cat is fearful, stressed, and anxious, she often avoids the litterbox as a last-ditch effort to express herself.”

Arriving at a shelter filled with loud noises had a negative impact on Jazzy, so she was moved to a foster home.

“There she’s had the chance to breathe, relax, and feel safe again. This 2 year old girl is still shy, but her sweetness is undeniable,” the shelter said. “She craves affection and will happily knead biscuits while getting pets. She even watches the house cats from the other side of the gate, showing curiosity and interest in making feline friends.”

A perfect home for Jazzy would ideally include a very patient owner who enjoys quiet and calm in their household (so no children under the age of 12) and maybe has another cat for Jazzy to play with, her profile says.

Fishers is about a 20-mile drive north from Indianapolis.
