If it seems like there are lots of little Noahs, Liams and Benjamins in your child’s playgroup — well, there might be. Those have been the three most popular boys names in Pennsylvania for the past four years.

Noah (No. 1 in 2021) and Liam have traded off the top two spots since 2018, while Benjamin has had a hold on No. 3, according to the Social Security Administration.

On the girls’ side, Olivia was the most popular name in the state last year. It’s been one of the top two names since 2014.

Emma, the third most popular in 2021, has been No. 1 in seven of the past 10 years. Charlotte took the No. 2 spot in 2021 after cracking the top three the previous year.

At Mount Nittany Medical Center, Charlotte was the most popular name for new babies in 2021. The top boys name was Liam.

Nationwide, the most popular names were Liam for boys and Olivia for girls. Liam has held the top spot for the past five years, while Olivia is in its third year at No. 1.
