A lucky player won $1 million this week on a Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off ticket.

A lucky player purchased a winning scratch-off ticket worth $1 million in Altoona, the Pennsylvania Lottery said Tuesday.

The “We Wish You a Merry Million” ticket was sold at Saji & Sharvan at 1700 Seventh Ave. The shop will get a $5,000 seller bonus.

Scratch-offs are randomly distributed, which means the lottery doesn’t know where winning tickets are sold until a prize has been claimed.

Scratch-off prizes expire a year after a game’s end-sale date. Winners should sign the back of their ticket as soon as possible and call the lottery at 800-692-7481. Lottery prizes greater than $5,000 are subject to withholding.

This wasn’t the week’s only big winner from the city. The lottery said Monday a $1 million ticket sold in Altoona was drawn in Saturday’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.
