Lottery for thousands of rare bourbons and whiskeys opens in Pennsylvania. How to enter
Pennsylvania’s state-run liquor department has once again opened a limited-release lottery that will give registrants a chance to purchase one of thousands of bottles of rare products.
The lottery, scheduled for the week of Oct. 30 and administered by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, is expected to include 4,429 bottles of highly sought whiskeys. State residents and licensees have until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 to opt into the limited-release lottery which will, in total, feature six different bourbons and whiskeys across five individual lotteries.
Here’s a look at the lottery schedule, according to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board:

Purchases are limited to one bottle per participant per lottery, and only one entry per household per lottery is allowed, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board says. Duplicate entries will be disqualified.

Both retail entrants and licensee entrants are encouraged to carefully review the terms and conditions of the limited-release lotteries, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board says. Entrants should note attempts to resell products obtained through these lotteries (and any alcoholic beverages without a license) is prohibited under Pennsylvania law. Additionally, lottery winners who fail to pick up their purchases or circumvent requirements risk disqualification, according to the lottery’s rules.
According to Fine Wine & Good Spirits, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board implements occasional lotteries “in an effort to equitably distribute wine and spirits that are released by manufacturers or suppliers in limited quantities and generate considerable consumer demand.” Visit finewineandgoodspirits.com/faq to learn more about lotteries, rules and selection processes.
