Two Pennsylvania events were recently named among the top five best Fourth of July celebrations nationwide, according to the USA Today Readers’ Choice Awards.

The City of Pittsburgh Independence Day Celebration took the No. 1 spot in the nation for Best 4th of July Celebration for 2026, while Wawa Welcome America, a 16-day celebration in Philadelphia, landed in third place.

Pittsburgh’s Independence Day Celebration will feature a concert series, line dancing, a hot air balloon, food trucks and “the grandest fireworks spectacle the city has seen in decades,” according to staff. USA Today described the event as “one of the nation’s finest.”

“Kicking off at 4 p.m., you’ll find nonstop local entertainment, local cuisine at a food truck corral, and a family fun zone amongst the many festivities,” USA Today’s analysis reads.

The Pittsburgh event was named a “runner-up” in 2025 and 2024 for USA Today’s best places to see fireworks ranking.

Wawa Welcome America was described by USA Today 10Best as “one of America’s largest free celebrations.”

“There are block parties, a parade, a Hoagie Day, a night market, lots of live music performances, a July 4th concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and fireworks show over the Philadelphia Museum of Art,” USA Today’s analysis reads.

The festival began on Juneteenth and runs through Independence Day, with upcoming events including the All-American Block Party, Float Fest, a concert, the Annual Liberty Medal Ceremony, The Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade and more. Wawa Welcome America also features free museum days and free movie days.

The Centre Daily Times has contacted staff with the city of Pittsburgh special events and Wawa Welcome America for comment about the USA Today recognition.
