Derecho leaves widespread damage in Centre County. See photos of the aftermath

A severe storm moved through Centre County on Tuesday evening and left a trail of destruction — downed trees, utility wires and property damage.

The storm was classified by AccuWeather as a derecho, which is a fast-moving, long-lived and rare windstorm that is highly destructive.

With tens of thousands of people across the county still without power Wednesday afternoon and numerous road closures, below is a look at some of the aftermath.
