If that seemed a little quick on the trigger after such a momentous move, Scott Woodward makes Loftin look like a lifer. Because after pulling off a couple of the biggest hires in school history over a 15-month stretch, the athletic director high-tailed it for LSU this week.

Mark Bradley: Justin Fields isn’t yet the toast of Columbus, Ohio

This time a year ago, more than a few folks figured Justin Fields would become Georgia's starting quarterback before the 2018 season ended. (I was among them.) Didn't happen. Didn't come close to happening. Whereupon Fields did as you had to figure he'd do, meaning leave. He's now considered the front-runner to be Ohio State's starting quarterback, not to mention the co-third-favorite, as of late February, for the 2019 Heisman Trophy.

Miami QB competition to continue through summer and into camp

Considering the Hurricanes' young trio of quarterbacks is adapting to a new coach and learning a new system, it was no surprise Tuesday that offensive coordinator Dan Enos said neither N'Kosi Perry, Tate Martell or Jarren Williams had done enough this spring to earn the starting job, even with Miami set to wrap up drills with an Orlando scrimmage on Saturday.
