Penn State Athletics will mark the start of a new age of Nittany Lions apparel with pop-up shops, fan experiences and more in July.

The university’s athletic department will host limited-time shopping events at Pegula Ice Arena next month featuring apparel from every Penn State sport. The pop-up events coincide with the start of Penn State’s new apparel partnership with adidas, which begins July 1.

Penn State’s pop-up shop series will begin from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, inside the arena’s Mount Nittany Room, accessible through Gate A. Fans can also snap some pictures with the Nittany Lion from 5-7 p.m.

Those who purchase new gear at the pop-up shops can score “an exclusive and collectable co-branded gift” while supplies last, Penn State said.

The pop-up series will continue on the following schedule:

  • July 2 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • July 8 from noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • July 10 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • July 11 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • July 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Additionally, fans who attend the pop-up shops July 10-12 can view and take pictures with some landmark Nittany Lions hardware.

Penn State will bring out its 1982 and 1986 football national championship trophies for an exclusive photo-op experience at its final three pop-up shops. They’ll be on display alongside some of the Nittany Lions’ 2025-26 season trophies, including wrestling’s national championship trophy, women’s hockey’s Frozen Four trophy, men’s lacrosse’s Big Ten Tournament Championship trophy and men’s volleyball’s EIVA Tournament Championship trophy.

Celebrations in July continue with a renamed Penn State Berkey Creamery flavor honoring the Nittany Lions’ new deal with adidas. According to an employee, the university’s historic creamery will temporarily rebrand its Death by Chocolate ice cream as “Three-Stripe Delight” for the month without changing its rich chocolate ice cream, chocolate flakes, fudge pieces and chocolate swirl.

The renamed Creamery flavor will be available at the campus creamery throughout July, as well as pop-up shops at Pegula Ice Arena from noon to 7 p.m. on July 1, 10 and 11.

Move over, Nike

Penn State’s new deal with adidas is valued at roughly $300 million in cash, product considerations for Name, Image and Likeness, and other benefits. The university’s athletic department inked the deal in 2025, laying the groundwork for the Nittany Lions to cut ties with Nike after the company spent 33 years as Penn State’s official apparel partner.

The agreement covers all 31 Penn State sports and its 800-plus student-athletes. Pat Kraft, the Nittany Lions’ athletic director, said the partnership “goes far beyond uniforms” and stands as “unlike anything else in the marketplace.”

Nike declined an opportunity to match the deal and continue its relationship with Penn State, sources told the Centre Daily Times last year.

The switch between apparel partners led many downtown State College shops to run deep discounts on remaining Nike-branded apparel in June. Some stores said they may still sell remaining Nike-branded inventory after July 1 — and likely on sale, too.
