Just under nine months after Penn State announced its change from Nike to adidas, the switch is finally here. The Nittany Lions are now apparel partners with the Germany-based company after 33 years with Nike in the same role.
“This partnership represents a landmark investment in Penn State Athletics, one that will create new opportunities for our student-athletes and strengthen every program as we pursue championships,” Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft said in a statement. “This is about giving our student-athletes every possible advantage. It’s about giving Nittany Nation an exciting new way to wear its pride. And it’s about building something together that will elevate Penn State Athletics on both the national and global stage.”
The deal with adidas is valued at roughly $300 million over 10 years, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the agreement. That total includes cash, product, considerations for Name, Image and Likeness, and other benefits.
The change became official at midnight on July 1, and will include pop-up sales at Pegula Ice Arena for fans to buy the new gear. Those sales will take place July 1-2 and July 8-12. On July 1, 2, 10 and 11, they will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The other dates have sale times from noon to 5 p.m. (July 8), 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (July 9) and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (July 12).
The first fans into the pop-up will receive a blue and white pin of adidas’ trefoil logo with “Penn State 2026” beneath it. Pins will be available while supplies last.
