Penn State men’s basketball lands former Bucknell leading scorer from transfer portal
Penn State men’s basketball landed a second guard from the transfer portal Thursday afternoon. The Nittany Lions added former Bucknell guard Andrew Funk when he announced his decision to commit to head coach Micah Shrewsberry and his program via Twitter.
Funk was the second commit of the day, joining former Drexel guard Camren Wynter. Like Wynter, Funk was his previous team’s leading scorer. He averaged 17.6 points per game and was a willing shooter from beyond the arc. He hoisted 7.5 3-point attempts per game in the 2021-2022 season, making 36.3% of them.
The former Bucknell guard gives the Nittany Lions yet another ball handler who can shoot, giving the team the versatility it lacked offensively last season when it relied on Jalen Pickett, who will return next season, and Sam Sessoms, who is in the transfer portal, to carry the load.
Funk’s and Wynter’s commitments have the Nittany Lions out of scholarships to hand out, but it remains to be seen if there will be any other departures from Penn State’s roster this offseason.
