The Nittany Lions are officially heading to the Big Dance, and it’s not too late to join them.
Penn State men’s basketball fans still have several options to secure tickets to the Penn State’s NCAA Tournament-opening matchup with Texas A&M Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa. The game marks Penn State’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2010-11 season.
Nittany Lions head west
Penn State vs. Texas A&M (9:55 p.m.) marks one of four games slated for the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Thursday across the bracket’s West and Midwest regions. No. 1-seeded Kansas will face No. 16 Howard at approximately 1:50 p.m., while No. 8 Arkansas and No. 9 Illinois will match up at 4:20 p.m. No. 2 Texas will face No. 15 Colgate at 7:15 p.m. to wrap up the day’s action in Iowa.
Saturday’s session in Des Moines will feature the Penn State-Texas A&M winner facing off against the victor of Texas-Colgate in the bracket’s Midwest region. Likewise, the Illinois-Arkansas winner will match up with the Kansas-Howard victor in the tournament’s West region.
Times and broadcast destinations for second-round matchups won’t be announced until all first-round games are completed.
How to get your tickets
First-round NCAA Tournament tickets are split between two-game sessions for each host location. Penn State’s opening matchup with Texas A&M Thursday marks the end of session two, which also features Texas-Colgate.
Tickets are available on a session-by-session basis, though some passes provide admission for the entire week’s slate of games at each tournament site across the country. Those who feel certain the Nittany Lions will advance to the second round may consider purchasing a pass for session three or an all-sessions ticket.
Session two tickets start at $18 and top out at nearly $400, according to StubHub. SeatGeek’s tickets start at $16, while Ticketmaster’s passes are selling for between $20 and $400.
Prices appear to increase significantly once session three rolls around. StubHub’s tickets start at $94, while SeakGeek and Ticketmaster passes are available for as low as $89 and $111, respectively.
On StubHub, all-sessions tickets in Des Moines are currently starting at $194. Ticketmaster’s passes start at $223, while SeatGeek offers tickets starting at $182.
Public tickets for the games in Des Moines are available online at NCAA.com/MBBTickets. The NCAA Ticket Exchange, meanwhile, serves as the official secondary marketplace for NCAA Tournament tickets at NCAA.com/Exchange.
Teams competing in March Madness traditionally offer very few tickets for students, if any. So far, Penn State has not publicly released information regarding student tickets or passes for season ticketholders, though more could be available if the Nittany Lions advance in the bracket.
