Penn State athletics has set the date for the return of the Blue-White spring football game next year.

The program announced Friday that the game will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022 inside Beaver Stadium with the intrasquad scrimmage beginning sometime during the midafternoon. More details will be announced following the end of the 2021 regular season.

There was no spring game in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Nittany Lions returned to the field this spring on April 14 with a limited crowd that included families and guests of players, staff members and first-year students. Tailgates were not permitted and the parking lots were closed for the event.

Penn State is in the midst of a bye week and is 5-1 on the year. The No. 7 Nittany Lions will take on Illinois for homecoming, Oct. 23, which will kick off at noon on ABC.
