Penn State football offering fans ‘one-of-a-kind’ experience at tunnel entrance — for $10,000

Penn State unveiled a new “exclusive” club for football fans Thursday, one that centers on access to two new spaces near Beaver Stadium’s south tunnel entrance — at the cost of $10,000 annually.

The spaces, part of the newly dubbed “Tunnel Club,” feature large glass windows separating club members from players when they jog out of the tunnel before kickoff. The added access is designed to be in addition to, not in place of, game tickets and does not appear to show the field itself.

The spaces include an open bar, free food and snacks, private restrooms and exclusive Wi-Fi. The spaces will also be open to members at least five other times a year, during events such as ArtsFest and graduation weekends.

The move is designed to “further enhance Beaver Stadium as the country’s premier college football venue,” according to an email announcement.

According to athletic department spokesperson Kris Petersen, the creation of the two spaces — expected to be completed ahead of the Sept. 2 home opener against West Virginia — will not impact access to the south tunnel or the flow of traffic. In other words, for fans that enjoy hanging around the tunnel and high-fiving players inside the stadium, nothing will change.

The new spaces are also not part of the $70 million Phase 1 of Beaver Stadium renovations, which the university’s board of trustees approved earlier this month. It is a separate project, Petersen added. Overall, officials estimate it will cost about $700 million to fully renovate Beaver Stadium by August 2027 — although final designs likely will not be released until next year.

The tunnel project comes on the heels of another football-related addition, “Legacy Plaza” outside Beaver Stadium. That project, where fans can purchase personalized bricks, was announced in March and is also expected to be completed ahead of this football season.

It’s unknown what the fundraising goal is for the Tunnel Club and/or Legacy Plaza.

Those interested in more information on the Tunnel Club can sign up to be included on an email list on GoPSUSports.com. Membership includes four passes, although the fee is non-charitable and does not count toward any ticket or parking purchase/contribution.
