Penn State students can enter a lottery for a College Football Playoff seat. What to know
Penn State students could have a chance to buy a first round College Football Playoff ticket in a game at Beaver Stadium for only $28.
The athletic department sent an email to students Thursday afternoon outlining how they can potentially acquire a ticket.
Students will have to submit a request for one ticket by Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. and will have to enter a credit or debit card to be eligible for the lottery. They will then be notified during the week of Dec. 2-6 if they were selected, with cards being charged on Dec. 8 — the day the playoff bracket will be announced.
In order to help students attend the game, which could take place on Dec. 20 or 21, dorms will remain open until 4 p.m. on Dec. 22 ahead of winter break.
The Nittany Lions are currently the No. 6 seed in the playoff bracket and the No. 4 team in the College Football Playoff rankings. The No. 5-8 seeds in the bracket will all host home playoff games on Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. or Dec. 21 at noon, 4 p.m. or 8 p.m.
Penn State will look to continue securing its position this weekend when it takes on Minnesota in Minneapolis. If the Nittany Lions win out and go 11-1, finishing No. 6 overall and hosting a home playoff game is the team’s most likely scenario.
