Penn State star running back Nick Singleton opts out of Pinstripe Bowl, per report

One of Penn State football’s star offensive players will not be playing in the Pinstripe Bowl against Clemson.

Running back Nick Singleton will not play in the game, Singleton’s father told The Reading Eagle’s Rich Scarcella.

Singleton finishes his career fourth all-time in Penn State career rushing yards with 3,461 and first all-time in rushing touchdowns, with 45 and total touchdowns with 55. He had an up-and-down final season with the Nittany Lions, finishing with a career low in rushing yards with 549 but a career high in rushing touchdowns with 13.

He joins safety Zakee Wheatley and defensive tackle Zane Durant as players who have opted out of the team’s Dec. 27 matchup with the Tigers in Yankee Stadium.
