Former Penn State men’s hockey player Nate Sucese signs NHL contract with Arizona Coyotes
Penn State’s all-time leading goal scorer is headed to the NHL.
Nate Sucese signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Airzona Coyotes on Friday, making him the second Nittany Lion to ink a NHL deal this offseason.
“It was truly an honor to be able to wear the Penn State logo the last 4 years,” Sucese said in a statement. “My time in Hockey Valley has been so special and I can’t thank the coaching staff, my teammates, the roar zone and the whole Penn State community enough for making it that way.”
Brandon Biro signed with the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.
Sucese registered 38 points in 34 games this season as was Penn State’s leading scorer. The senior finished his career at Penn State with 140 points in 147 games for the blue and white.
“We respect Nate as our all-time leading scorer but respect him even more for his mental toughness and competitive nature when it mattered most,” coach Guy Gadowsky said in a statement. “He definitely played his best hockey at the end of this season in our most important games. We are thrilled for him and are excited to see his success with the Coyotes.”
Sucese is now the sixth Nittany Lions to sign an NHL contract, joining Biro, Andrew Sturtz, Casey Bailey, Eamon McAdam and Vince Pedrie.
