How to watch Penn State’s outdoor hockey game vs. Michigan State: TV, livestream & more
One of the season’s most anticipated college hockey games is right around the corner.
The No. 5 Penn State men’s hockey team will take on No. 2 Michigan State at 1 p.m. Saturday in an outdoor rink constructed within the confines of Beaver Stadium. This will mark the first men’s outdoor hockey game ever hosted by the Nittany Lions, and the university anticipates attendance to grow to more than 60,000.
Whether you’re trying to watch the game in person, at a sports bar or just from home, we’ve got you covered below.

How to get tickets to outdoor game
Tickets can still be found around face value on Ticketmaster, the official ticketing partner of PSU. The cheapest tickets start at $32.95, which includes taxes and fees.
The athletic department is also offering “Winter Weekend Ticket Packages” that include a Friday ticket to wrestling vs. Nebraska, a Saturday ticket to hockey vs. Michigan State and a Sunday ticket to men’s basketball vs. Minnesota. A package for one person typically costs around $99, and cheaper two-event packages are also available.
If you’d like to watch a hockey game in Beaver Stadium but remain on a tight budget, one option is to attend Friday’s women’s hockey game instead. The No. 4 Penn State women’s hockey team is set to take on Robert Morris at 1 p.m. Friday in Beaver Stadium — and admission is free. Fans will enter Gate A and can sit on the east side of the stadium in sections ED, EE and EF. Parking will be handled like a normal event day; spots could still be purchased Thursday afternoon for $6, and day-of-parking will cost $10 if using HONK.
Where to watch locally
A number of downtown State College bars will undoubtedly air the game — Bill Pickle’s Tap Room, Brothers Bar & Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, Champs Downtown, Primanti Bros, etc. — and other nearby staples, such as Axemann Brewery near Bellefonte and 814 Cider Works near State College, have announced plans to show the game.
But, so far, Happy Valley Live at 1031 E. College Ave. appears to be the only venue to offer a pre-game tailgate followed by a watch party.
Happy Valley Live, the closest bar to Beaver Stadium, announced on Facebook that it would host the tailgate from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday on the middle and lower levels of the venue. The cover will be $25 but will include offerings like eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, wings, chicken tenders, fries, etc.
A watch party on the main level will follow, although there is no cover for that. Reservations are recommended.
